Tree services in Cardinia Lakes.

New-build estate work: building-pad clearing, boundary-gum removal, post-construction stump grinding, and formative pruning of the advanced ornamentals the landscaper planted at 3m. Cardinia Lakes is in our central coverage zone, so storm response is 60–90 minutes.

Cardinia Lakes tree work

What the estate needs (and why).

Boundary gums from the old paddock fence lines.

Cardinia Lakes was built into ex-grazing land. The original eucalypt boundary trees got retained on the new fence lines — sometimes to the homeowner’s delight, sometimes as an inheritance from the developer. After 3–5 years of disturbed soil, compacted root zones and open-aspect wind exposure, these trees become more storm-vulnerable than mature gums in established suburbs. The right intervention is usually deadwooding + structural assessment in year 2, then crown reduction at year 5 if needed.

Building-pad clearing at the start.

Most Cardinia Lakes builds start with a small clearing job — remove the 1–3 remnant trees that sit inside the slab footprint, grind their stumps below excavation depth, leave any retained boundary trees with proper tree-protection zones (AS 4970 fencing). Coordinated with the builder’s slab program so it doesn’t delay the pour.

Post-build stump grinding for landscaping.

After the slab is poured and the builder has left, the landscaper wants to re-turf cleanly. Any leftover boundary stumps or construction-zone stumps need grinding to 100–150mm below grade. Our 30cm narrow-access grinder fits through a standard 900mm side gate, which is what most Cardinia Lakes blocks have.

Formative pruning of advanced ornamentals.

The estate landscaper plants 3m advanced ornamentals (pears, magnolias, gleditsias, crepe myrtles, sometimes manchurian pears) with crossing branches and codominant stems. One round of formative pruning in years 1–3 saves $5K+ in structural prune work a decade later. We do these as cheap maintenance visits — a row of 5–6 trees for $400–$800.

Typical Cardinia Lakes jobs.

  • Boundary-gum removal + stump grind on a new build ($2,500–$5,000)
  • Deadwood + assessment on a retained boundary gum, year 2 ($800–$1,400)
  • Stump grind set of 3–5 stumps post-construction ($500–$1,200)
  • Formative prune of 5 advanced ornamentals ($400–$800)
  • Storm callout: boundary gum down on a colorbond fence ($600–$1,400)
