Established Officer — mature gums & pines.

Period Officer (along Princes Highway, Old Princes Highway, Stoney Creek Road, Quarry Road) typically sits on 700–1,200m² blocks with mature trees: 30–40 year old eucalypts, 50–70 year old radiata pines, planted oaks, conifers, the occasional mature liquidambar. Heavy lifting on these is the regular work: crown reduction on the leaning ones, deadwooding the storm-vulnerable ones, full removal when structure is past saving.

Officer Estate — new-build growth corridor.

The Officer Estate, Arena and surrounding new estates were built into ex-paddock land. Boundary eucalypts from the original property lines are now on fence lines between brand-new builds. We see these come down in storms more than you’d expect in the first 3–5 years post-construction — the soil profile disturbance from earthworks compromises root anchorage. Pre-emptive deadwooding is cheap insurance.

Radiata pine is its own conversation.

A lot of Officer has 30–40m radiata pines from the 1960s and 1970s. Pine has shallow root plates and is prone to heart-rot in maturity — many of the pines that “suddenly” fall in storms were already structurally compromised. We do these with heavier rigging (pine splinters under load), often with a spider-lift where the access allows. Removal $4K–$8.5K typical.
